I didn’t have as much time this past weekend to work on The Robot as I would have liked to, as I went to toorcon instead. I am glad I went. I now understand "information economy" in a whole new way. There were some very good presentations and speakers and some less so. Christopher Abad is one funny guy, by the way.
Anyway, on to The Robot. Made a few structural modifications and mounted the main controller board, which has a bit of space left over for future expansion. You can see the Big Switch kind of dangling there. I haven’t figured out how I want to mount it yet. Also one of the H-bridges seems to be having trouble supplying enough current to the motor in reverse mode, so I may end up replacing the transistors one-by-one (again) until it works right.
It might be interesting to build a bicore head and mount it to the empty space in front of the controller, as a sort of photosensitive turret. Thus when the head turns left, for example, it engages a switch which signals The Robot to make a left.
